FAQS

Contura uses a highly precise diagnostic tool called Topolyser that scans the unique shape of every eye through thousands of measuring points on each eye, thus creating a distinct and exclusive contour or imprint of every eye. This personalised contour or vision imprint custom guides the laser to correct the irregularities or aberrations unique to each eye, resulting in the sharpest vision possible.

  • If you experience compromised/restricted vision with spectacles or contact lenses
  • If you don’t want to wear spectacles or contact lenses
  • If you’re opting for professional careers that mandate perfect uncorrected vision
  • If you feel socially awkward wearing glasses
  • If you don’t want to follow the meticulous hygiene requirements for contact lenses
  • If contact lenses don’t suit your eyes
  • If contact lenses or spectacles hamper your sports activities
If you are above 18 years of age and have not had a change in your spectacle power (stable refraction) for 12 months, do not suffer from dry eyes or any other ocular surface disorder, and your cornea has an adequate thickness, you are a candidate suitable to be considered for laser vision correction.

A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s normally transparent and clear lens, preventing a sharp image from being formed on the retina.

It makes vision hazy, dull, blurred, and even less colourful. You may have difficulty seeing in the dark or in places with poor lighting or develop sensitivity to light and glare.

This blurry vision affects the way you carry out your day-to-day tasks.

Replacing the natural lens that is now opaque and cloudy with an artificial Intraocular Lens (IOL) through a phacoemulsification laser surgery (phaco surgery) is the most common and most recommended procedure. It requires a small incision of approximately 2.2 to 2.8 mm.

Glaucoma is symptomless in the initial stages and is called the silent thief of vision. Hence, regular check-ups are necessary to identify early on if you have glaucoma.

Glaucoma, left untreated, leads to irreversible diminishing of vision.

Regular follow-ups, check-ups, and compliance with the treatment advised could help prevent further loss and preserve the vision you have, enabling you to lead a fulfilling life.

Diabetes harms vision in several ways. It causes Diabetic Retinopathy – a major damage to the retina, the delicate inner lining of the eye that transmits messages to the brain. Diabetes can also accelerate the formation of cataracts. It can cause glaucoma. It could even lead to weakness of the eye muscle and weakening of the optic nerve.

Our retina is a delicate inner lining of the eye that transmits visual messages to the brain. It is made up of blood vessels. Diabetic retinopathy causes these tiny cells to weaken, leaking the fluid within the retina and thus causing blurry vision.

Regular monitoring of the eyes affected by diabetic retinopathy along with strict control of blood sugar levels helps arrest further loss of vision.
